CBS News Sunday Morning Report on Custom Golf Carts at The Villages

| Custom Carts, News, On the Street | May 22, 2011

A couple of weeks ago we blogged about a custom golf cart show in The Villages retirement community in Florida. We received a response from Amy Rosner, a producer with the CBS News Sunday Morning show, who wanted some information about the show for use in an upcoming segment about custom golf carts. We helped her out as best we could and here is the resultant report, presented by Bill Geist.

It's amazing that there are over 50,000 carts within The Villages, but only about a third of those are regularly used on the golf course. A large majority are custom golf carts with all sorts of body styles, from Mustangs, Hummers to 60's Chevys. This must make The Villages have the highest number of street legal custom golf carts in the country, and probably the world.

  1. This is a great segment on The Villages and will result in more people wanting to come visit The Villages and “test drive” (no pun intended) the lifestyle. 90 miles of cart paths? Wow! And The Villages isn’t even built out yet. Wonder what the total miles of cart paths will be when The Villages is completed. For those who want to visit and sample the lifestyle consider renting a villa. They usually come complete with a golf cart.

  2. fantastic site
