Golf Cart Crash

Golf Carts can be dangerous

Rules official ends up in trouble after moving golf cart for player ruling

You've no doubt seen rules officials driving around in a golf cart during a PGA tour event so that they can be called over to give a golf ruling when required. In this role a golf cart in an invaluable tool to ensure that play is speedily resumed when a golfer needs the official advice of a rules official. However, just like any other tool, in the wrong hands golf carts can be dangerous.

A European Tour official found this was the case on the Ladies European Tour during in the recent Turkish Ladies Open. German pro Anja Monke required a ruling at the 11th hole after her golf ball landed on a cart path. A golf cart had then stopped next to her ball, so she was advised by the rules official to mark it with a tee which would then allow another official to move the obstructing cart. However, the official moving the cart got into a bit of trouble....

Perhaps this was a custom golf cart with a lot more power than the driver was expecting? This is why we always recommend golf cart safety belts to be installed, as you never know what you'll encounter on the golf course.
