Planking is the latest internet craze that is taking the world by storm, and the golfing world is not immune. This planker gets into trouble while “planking” on a golf cart roof as it drives off a tee.
Planking is an internet "fad" of having your picture taken whilst lying face down in unusual places or on top of objects. The planking pictures are then posted on social media websites across the globe for the idolization of other planking aficionado's.
According to Wikipedia planking is rumoured to have started in 1997 in the North East of England and has spread to all corners of the earth, with planking taking place in major cities, monuments and even at the Wonders of the World.
With the inevitable oneupmanship among plankers this is becoming an increasingly dangerous activity, as our golf cart planker found out. He doesn't look too hurt, but planking has already taken (allegedly) its first victim.
"On 15 May 2011, Acton Beale, a 20-year-old man, plunged to his death after reportedly "planking" on a seventh-floor balcony in Brisbane, Australia. Beale became the first known casualty of the planking fad." [source : Wikipedia]
Surely Acton Beale has got to be a strong contender for the 2011 Darwin Award.
