For all you golf cart loving country music fans, Willie Nelson’s Rolls-Royce inspired custom golf cart will be up for auction at the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach auction from April 5th through 7th. Our Used Golf Cart of the Week certainly has a star quality that will drive up its value.
This custom golf cart was given to Willie as a gift by his former wife, Connie, in 1981 and the electric-powered cart has a lightweight aluminum frame and Rolls Royce “features”. It’s fitted with a Rolls Royce-ish grille, eagle hood ornament (not The Flying Lady) and body-styling to match the Rolls Royce cars of the era.
What's really special about this cart is the on-board wet bar, aptly named The 19th Hole, that has several liquor selections suitable for a high-living music legend. Press a button corresponding to your tipple of choice, bourbon, gin, scotch, vodka and a W for water or whiskey.
Waiting for your turn on the tee box will pass by very quickly as you sit in the embroidered custom seats, with a drink in your hand listening to the latest hits on the tape deck.
The cart has a full windshield, headlights and turn signals and it shouldn't take much work to turn this into a fully street legal golf cart. Just don't be tempted by the drinks at the bar. As golf carts in Florida are very popular for getting around local communities, it would be a shame to only use it on the golf course.
Seized by the IRS from Nelson's Pedernales Golf Course in Texas which Willie bought in 1979. Incidentally, the Club House became Willie's recording studio that still attracts recording artists from all around.
As with all Barrett-Jackson lots the auction has no reserve and as a bonus two of Nelson's personal golf bags also come with the cart. Check out the cart on the Barrett-Jackson site here and look out for Lot 314 come auction time. How much would you bid?
