American Restoration is a History channel show that features Rick Dale restoring vintage items at his Las Vegas shop, Rick’s Restorations. In this video Rick explains the months of work that went into restoring this beat up 1964 Marketeer golf cart and why this was a favorite restoration of his.
This custom golf cart restoration was commissioned by Rick Harrison, of Pawn Stars fame, as a gift to his father. The Harrison’s are one of Rick’s best customers and he has restored many items that have appeared on the Pawn Stars show.
Rick talks about the difficulties in restoring this golf cart and in particular the issues with the cart's suspension and electric drive train. As most of the cart's mechanicals were shot Rick had to butcher parts from a newer cart and engineer them to fit into the Marketeer. It took months of work to get the golf cart into a drivable state.
After completing the cart, with the weight of the new golf cart batteries and a couple of passengers, the suspension was found to be wanting. After a second improved suspension setup was installed the golf cart was ready to be handed back to Rick Harrison, who then gave it as a gift to his dad.
The details of this restoration are amazing, with chromed parts everywhere, a leather custom top and bench seat. With the amount of time and expertize that went into this restoration, we can only imagine at the size of the final bill.
We'll think you'll agree that this cart restoration turned out beautifully and 'the old man' looks very happy with the result as he drives it home at the end of the clip.
