The Villages retirement community in Florida has the highest concentration of golf carts of anywhere in the U.S. with over 50,000 golf carts for the 90,000 residents. Practically everything is within a short cart ride, whether you need to shop at the grocery store or enjoy a round of golf at one of the many country-club championship golf courses.
Keeping the community’s residents healthy and able to enjoy all the amenities that The Villages offers is important to everyone concerned. As such they have just entered an partnership with UnitedHealth to provide a private health care plan that will see eight primary-care centers built throughout its community.
As with all the other facilities in the Villages the health centers will be conveniently located throughout the community so that residents will be able to access them quickly and easily.
“No member will ever live more than a 10 minute golf cart ride from a primary care doctor.”, promises UnitedHealth
The health centers will deal with non-critical health problems which can be dealt with by a local doctor who’s only a few minutes away. This will mean that the patient doesn’t have to travel to a hospital, unless their situation demands it.
