Cast you mind back to December 2011 and you might remember a viral YouTube video of a runaway golf cart causing havoc at the Cowboy’s Stadium. Somehow the E-Z-Go cart drove itself into a group of people after the end of the high school championship football game.
One of those injured was Willie Amendola, father of Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola, who coaches the game winning Spring Dekaney High School football team. He is now suing Cowboys Stadium over the incident, during which several people were injured including one man who was taken to hospital with a leg injury.
His lawsuit doesn’t just seek more than $1 million in damages for his injuries, he also includes damages for “physical pain, mental anguish, loss of earning capacity and loss of enjoyment”. The latter comes from his “personal embarrassment” caused by the ensuing viral video which quickly spread around the world.
The incident hasn’t slowed Amendola down in a professional capacity as he went on to coach his team to a a 6-3 record in 2012.
