The braking system contains components, the brake shoes and brake drums, that wear out through normal use and they must be replaced at regular intervals.

Wear rates will increase in certain situations or through certain uses such as, a hilly golf course will require more use of the brakes leading to increased wear. Driving a street legal golf car will increase the brake wear due to the frequent stops in traffic and the higher speeds demanded by street use. If hauling heavy loads, such as materials, equipment or a multi-passenger limo then the brakes will need to be inspected for wear on a more frequent basis.
The different manufacturers tend to uses the same parts in their brakes through their different models and for successive years. Although we do recommend that you make sure you buy the right golf cart brake kits for the make, model and year of your vehicle.
